Jul 23 2008 Condor at WGC Rieti

From 6th till 20th of July, Rieti (Italy) was the place of the 30th World Gliding Championships in the non-flapped classes (standard, club, world). Postfrontal team has presented the test version of our realtime visualization system of gliders in Condor environment that has been used for the Rieti competition. The system used a new Central Italy scenery by Bluangel 56 which is two times bigger than Alpi 3 and all in high definition.

The system was also used in the 2008 Spanish nationals and will additionally enable reviewing of IGC files in non-realtime in normal or accelerated mode, time jumps etc. All cameras available in Condor are supported and there is an additional satellite view. With some small modifications, we will be able to use the system as spectator tool for viewing Condor races too.

Feb 27 2008 News update
In mid February, SSA held its annual convention in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. Condor was very successfully presented there by Scott Manley and Trace Lewis (Trace – 95T). The key points of their presentations was to show how glider training can be improved and also how to maintain proficiency and learn new skills using flight simulations.
Hydrowinch company (www.hydrowinch.com), a manufacturer of high tech glider launch winches, also showed Condor at their booth. The feedback was very positive and we're sure the presentations have raised awareness for Condor across the Atlantic.

Two beautiful new sceneries have been released for Condor recently: Alpi3 and Czech Republic. Alpi3 scenery (by BlueAngel and Postfrontal) is based on very high resolution aerial images and covers most of the Alps, from France to Slovenia. Another approach was chosen for Czech republic scenery by Milos Koch (Cadfael) where synthetic textures were used along with heavy use of detailed 3D objects for cities, forests, castles, TV towers, etc.

Development of Plane Pack 2 is taking longer than expected, however we're sure the final product will be worth the wait. The selection of planes is oriented towards double sitters this time with two popular school gliders ASK 21 and Blanik L-13 and the performance oriented double sitter DG-500. Then there is a real classic Standard Cirrus and the exotic Genesis 2.
